The method
- Count the days until the date.
- Divide by 7.
- The whole number is full weeks; the remainder is extra days.
Example
From 10 October 2026 to 1 March 2027 is 142 days.
142 ÷ 7 = 20 remainder 2 → 20 weeks and 2 days.

Why weeks are useful for planning
Weeks have a natural rhythm: a weekend to rest or catch up, and the same weekdays each time. Planning “one chapter per week” is easier to follow than “one chapter every 7.3 days”.

Counting weeks by the calendar
Another way to count is by weekdays: if today is Saturday and the target is a Saturday 20 weeks away, the count is exactly 20 weeks. If the target falls on Monday, add the extra two days. This is how school terms and project plans are often written: “week 1 starts Monday 5 January”, and so on.
