What is the Image Compressor?
Phone photos are often 3–8 MB, far too big for job portals, admission forms and websites that ask for images under 100 KB or 500 KB. The image compressor reduces file size while keeping the picture looking the same.
Everything happens inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server, so contracts, CNIC scans, bank statements and personal photos stay on your device.
Choose a quality level, an output format (keep the original, JPG, or WebP for the smallest files) and an optional maximum width. Resizing a 4,000-pixel photo to 1,600 pixels often cuts its size by 80% or more. For exact pixel sizes use the Image Resizer.
How to use the Image Compressor
- Choose a quality level (80% is a good start).
- Choose the output format.
- Optionally set a max width in pixels.
- Drop your images onto the box.
- Check the before and after sizes and download one by one or as a ZIP.
Example
A 4.2 MB phone photo at 80% quality with a 1,600 px max width becomes about 250 KB, small enough for most online forms.
How to get an image under 100 KB
- Set Max width to 1,000 px or less.
- Choose JPG or WebP.
- Start at 80% quality and lower to 65% if needed.
- For passport-size photos, crop first with the Image Cropper.
JPG, PNG or WebP?
JPG
Best for photos. Small files, supported everywhere.
PNG
Best for logos, screenshots and images with transparency, but large for photos.
WebP
Modern format that is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. Not every form accepts it.
You may also need
People who use the Image Compressor often need these related tools too:
- Image Converter: Change image format between JPG, PNG and WebP, one image or many at once, and download the results as a ZIP.
- PDF to Word: Turn a text-based PDF into an editable Word (.docx) document. Paragraphs and page breaks are kept, and the file never leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce the size of a photo?
Choose a quality level and max width, drop your photo in, and download the compressed version.
How can I compress an image to 100 KB?
Set the max width to about 1,000 px, choose JPG and lower the quality until the size is under 100 KB.
Does compression reduce quality?
Slightly, but at 80% the difference is very hard to see.
Can I compress many images at once?
Yes. Select several images and download them all as a ZIP.
Why did my PNG become WebP?
PNG cannot be shrunk by quality, so "Same as original" saves PNGs as WebP. Choose JPG if you need wider compatibility.
Is the Image Compressor free to use?
Yes. The Image Compressor on Custom Converter is completely free, with no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The files you choose are processed inside your own browser and never leave your device, so private documents and photos stay private.
