What is the PDF to Word?
PDF files are great for sharing but hard to edit. The PDF to Word converter pulls the text out of each page, rebuilds the paragraphs and saves them as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file you can edit in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Everything happens inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server, so contracts, CNIC scans, bank statements and personal photos stay on your device.
It works best on PDFs created from Word, Google Docs or websites. Scanned PDFs are pictures of text and need OCR software, which this tool does not include. To go the other way, use Word to PDF.
How to use the PDF to Word
- Click Choose a PDF file or drag a PDF onto the box.
- Wait a moment while the text is read; a preview of every page appears.
- Click Download Word (.docx) to save the document.
- Or click Copy text to paste the text anywhere.
Example
A 6-page CV exported from Google Docs as PDF converts into a 6-page DOCX with the same paragraphs, ready to update and re-save as PDF.
What is kept and what is not
- Kept: all selectable text, paragraph breaks and page breaks.
- Partly kept: headings and lists become normal paragraphs you can restyle.
- Not kept: images, tables, columns, fonts and colours. Complex layouts may need touching up.
- Not supported: scanned PDFs and password-protected PDFs.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to Word for free?
Choose your PDF, wait for the preview and click "Download Word (.docx)". No account or watermark.
Why is my converted Word file empty?
The PDF is probably a scan (an image of text). Scanned PDFs need OCR software to recognise the letters.
Will the formatting stay the same?
Text and paragraphs are kept. Tables, images and multi-column layouts are not rebuilt, so you may need to adjust them.
Is it safe to convert confidential PDFs?
Yes. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, if you are allowed to.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, on modern Android and iPhone browsers, though large PDFs are faster on a computer.
Is the PDF to Word free to use?
Yes. The PDF to Word on Custom Converter is completely free, with no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The files you choose are processed inside your own browser and never leave your device, so private documents and photos stay private.
