What is the Run Rate Calculator?

Run rate is the average number of runs a team scores per over. It is the most basic number in limited-overs cricket, shown on every TV scorecard as CRR (current run rate). The run rate calculator works it out from runs scored and overs faced.

For the chasing side, use the Required Run Rate Calculator; to project the final score, use the Cricket Score Predictor.

How to use the Run Rate Calculator

  1. Enter runs scored.
  2. Enter overs (e.g. 12.4 means 12 overs 4 balls).
  3. Read the run rate.

Formula

Run rate = runs ÷ (balls ÷ 6)

Example

A team on 98 runs after 12.4 overs (76 balls) has a run rate of 98 ÷ 12.667 = 7.74.

Overs and balls: 4.3 is not 4.3

In cricket, 4.3 overs means 4 overs and 3 balls, which is 27 balls or 4.5 "real" overs, not 4.3. All our cricket calculators convert overs to balls correctly (overs × 6 + balls). Enter overs in the usual cricket way and the maths is handled for you.
