What is the Bowling Average Calculator?

A bowler's average is the runs conceded per wicket, and their strike rate is the balls bowled per wicket. Lower is better for both. The calculator also shows economy rate.

Enter runs conceded, wickets and overs. For runs per over alone use the Bowling Economy Calculator; for batters use the Batting Average Calculator.

How to use the Bowling Average Calculator

  1. Enter runs conceded.
  2. Enter wickets.
  3. Enter overs bowled.
  4. Read average, strike rate and economy.

Formula

Bowling average = runs ÷ wickets · Bowling strike rate = balls ÷ wickets

Example

A bowler with 410 runs conceded, 18 wickets and 78.2 overs (470 balls) has an average of 22.78 and a strike rate of 26.1.

Overs and balls: 4.3 is not 4.3

In cricket, 4.3 overs means 4 overs and 3 balls, which is 27 balls or 4.5 "real" overs, not 4.3. All our cricket calculators convert overs to balls correctly (overs × 6 + balls). Enter overs in the usual cricket way and the maths is handled for you.
