What is the Shipping Cost Calculator?

Pakistani couriers such as TCS, Leopards, M&P, Trax and PostEx, and international ones such as DHL and FedEx, price by weight slabs: a price for the first 0.5 kg or 1 kg and a price for each additional slab. The shipping cost calculator applies your rate card to the chargeable weight and adds fuel surcharge and tax.

It uses the higher of actual and volumetric weight, so first check it with the Dimensional Weight Calculator. For large shipments by air or sea use the Freight Cost Calculator. All calculators accept centimetres, inches or millimetres and kilograms or pounds, so you can use the units on your supplier's spec sheet.

How to use the Shipping Cost Calculator

  1. Enter the parcel dimensions and actual weight.
  2. Enter your rate card: first slab and price, extra slab size and price.
  3. Add fuel surcharge and tax.
  4. Read chargeable weight and total cost.

Formula

Cost = first slab price + ceil((weight − first slab) ÷ slab) × extra price, then + fuel % + tax %

Example

With Rs 250 for the first 0.5 kg and Rs 120 per extra 0.5 kg, a 2.2 kg parcel costs 250 + 4 × 120 = Rs 730, plus 15% fuel and 16% tax = about Rs 974.

Lower your courier bill

  • Use the smallest box possible to reduce volumetric weight.
  • Negotiate rates once you ship regularly.
  • Compare overnight and overland services.
  • Check whether COD handling fees apply.
