You received a CV, an application form or a contract as a PDF, and now you need to edit it. Retyping is slow and error-prone. Converting the PDF to Word gives you an editable document in seconds. This guide explains how to convert PDF to Word, what to expect from the result and how to fix the usual problems, using our free PDF to Word tool.
How to convert
- Open the PDF to Word tool.
- Choose your PDF file.
- Wait a moment while it is processed in your browser.
- Download the .docx file and open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Because the conversion happens in your browser, the file is not uploaded to our server, which matters for CNIC copies, salary slips and contracts.
What converts well
- Text-based PDFs created from Word, Google Docs or other software
- Simple layouts with headings, paragraphs and lists
- Basic tables
What can be tricky
| Issue | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Scanned PDFs | Pages are images, not text | Use OCR software, or retype |
| Complex layouts | Columns and text boxes | Adjust in Word after converting |
| Unusual fonts | Font not on your computer | Replace with a similar font |
| Tables | Merged cells | Rebuild the table if needed |
Is my PDF scanned?
Try selecting text in your PDF viewer. If you cannot highlight words, the page is an image, and a normal converter cannot read it. OCR (optical character recognition) software is needed for those.
After converting
- Check page breaks and spacing
- Look at headers, footers and page numbers
- Confirm that tables line up
- Re-insert any images that moved
Converting back
When you finish editing, save as PDF again so it looks the same on every device. Our Word to PDF tool does this, or use “Save as PDF” in Word. If you need to combine the edited document with other files, the PDF Merger joins them into one PDF.
Urdu text
Urdu and other right-to-left scripts in PDFs can convert with broken word order or shapes, depending on how the PDF was made. Results vary; check carefully, especially for official documents.
