Uploading an image at the wrong size leads to awkward cropping, blurry text or important details cut off. Each platform has its own preferred dimensions. This guide lists common social media image sizes and how to prepare your images with our Image Resizer and Image Cropper. Platforms update their layouts, so check current guidance for big campaigns.

Safe zones
Platforms overlay buttons, names and captions on stories and covers. Keep important text away from the top and bottom 250 pixels of a 1080 × 1920 story, and centre key content on covers that crop differently on mobile.
File size and quality
Upload high-quality images, then let the platform compress them. If a platform rejects a file for size, use the Image Compressor. For PNG text graphics that look fuzzy after upload, try a larger size or JPG at high quality.
Text on images
Use large, bold fonts. Many people view on small phone screens. Keep wording short; check character counts for captions with the Character Counter.
For the basics of changing dimensions without distortion, read how to resize an image.
One design, many sizes
If you design posts in Canva or a similar tool, start with the largest format you need and keep important elements near the centre. Then resize and crop for each platform rather than designing from scratch. Keep a folder of templates at the right sizes so future posts are quick to make.
