How to Calculate Aggregate for University Admission in Pakistan

University Aggregate Calculator – free online tool guide

Admission to most Pakistani universities is decided by merit aggregate: a weighted combination of Matric, Intermediate (FSc, ICS, A Levels equivalence) and entry test results. Two students with the same FSc marks can have very different aggregates because of the test. This guide explains how to calculate aggregate for admission step by step, using our free University Aggregate Calculator.

The formula

Aggregate = Σ (obtained ÷ total × weight)

Each component is converted to a percentage and multiplied by its weightage.

Example with illustrative weights

Weights: entry test 50%, FSc 40%, Matric 10%.

Component Marks Percentage × Weight Contribution
Matric 1,010 / 1,100 91.82% 10% 9.18
FSc 945 / 1,100 85.91% 40% 34.36
Entry test 140 / 200 70.00% 50% 35.00
Aggregate 78.54%

Weightages differ by university and programme

Each university sets its own formula, and formulas change. Engineering, medical, computing and business programmes often weigh the entry test heavily. Medical admissions typically combine MDCAT with FSc according to the policy announced for that year. Always read the latest prospectus.

Hafiz-e-Quran and other additions

Some universities add marks for being Hafiz-e-Quran or for other criteria, subject to their rules and verification. Include them only if your university’s policy says so.

Using part-1 marks

If FSc part-2 results are not out when admissions open, many universities use part-1 marks. Enter part-1 obtained and total marks in the calculator.

What aggregate do you need?

Closing merits differ by programme, campus and year, depending on seats and competition. Look at previous years’ merit lists to set a realistic target, and apply to several programmes.

Raising your aggregate

Since the entry test often carries the most weight, a few extra test marks matter more than the same marks in Matric. Read an entry test preparation plan, and use the Study Time Calculator to divide time between subjects. For converting marks to percentages, the Percentage Calculator is useful.
