What is the Currency Converter?

The currency converter turns an amount in one currency into another using live mid-market exchange rates, the midpoint between buying and selling rates that banks use between themselves. It covers more than 160 currencies.

Popular pairs for Pakistan have their own pages: USD to PKR, AED to PKR, GBP to PKR and EUR to PKR. Rates refresh automatically several times a day and are cached on our server so the page stays fast.

How to use the Currency Converter

  1. Type the amount you want to convert.
  2. Choose the currency you have in From.
  3. Choose the currency you want in To.
  4. Read the converted amount and the rate both ways; use Swap to reverse.
  5. Use the tables for quick amounts like 100, 500 or 1,000.

Formula

Amount in target = amount × (rate of target ÷ rate of source)

Example

If 1 USD = 281 PKR, then USD 250 = PKR 70,250, and PKR 10,000 = about USD 35.59.

Mid-market rate vs bank rate

Banks, exchange companies and remittance apps buy currency a little below the mid-market rate and sell a little above it. That spread, plus any transfer fee, is their margin. In Pakistan the interbank rate published by the State Bank and the open-market rate at exchange companies can also differ. Always check the final rate before sending money.

Tips for sending money home

  • Compare the rate and the fee; a "zero fee" offer may have a worse rate.
  • Use official channels: remittances through banks support the economy and can qualify for incentives.
  • Convert larger amounts less often to save on fixed fees.
  • Compare salaries abroad with the International Salary Calculator.
