What is the EMI Calculator?

EMI stands for Equated Monthly Installment: the fixed amount you pay every month until a loan or financing is repaid. Our EMI calculator is built for car financing, home loans, bike installments and personal loans offered by banks in Pakistan and abroad.

Unlike a basic Loan Calculator, it starts from the full price and takes away your down payment, so you see the amount actually financed, the monthly installment, the total markup or interest, and the total cost of the car or house including what you paid upfront.

How to use the EMI Calculator

  1. Enter the price of the car, bike, house or the amount you need.
  2. Enter the down payment as a percentage (banks in Pakistan usually ask for 30% or more on cars).
  3. Enter the markup / interest rate per year.
  4. Choose the tenure in years or months.
  5. Read the monthly EMI, total interest and total cost, and open the schedule for the yearly breakdown.

Formula

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P = price − down payment

Example

A Rs 5,000,000 car with 30% down payment (Rs 1,500,000) financed at 16% for 5 years: the financed amount is Rs 3,500,000 and the EMI is about Rs 85,113 per month. Total markup is about Rs 1,606,792 and the total cost including the down payment is about Rs 6,606,792.

Car financing in Pakistan: what affects your EMI

Down payment

A larger down payment reduces the financed amount, so both the EMI and the total markup fall.

KIBOR-linked rates

Most car and home financing is priced at KIBOR plus a bank spread. When KIBOR changes, a variable-rate installment can change too.

Tenure

Car financing usually runs 1 to 7 years and home financing up to 20 or 25 years. Longer tenure means a smaller EMI but more total markup.

Insurance and charges

Banks add car insurance, processing fees and sometimes tracker charges on top of the EMI.

Conventional loan vs Islamic car Ijarah

In conventional financing the bank charges interest on the loan. In Ijarah the bank owns the car and rents it to you, and in Diminishing Musharakah you buy the bank's share gradually. The monthly payment is calculated with the same formula, so this calculator gives a close estimate for both.

You may also need

People who use the EMI Calculator often need these related tools too:

  • Age Calculator: Find your exact age in years, months and days from your date of birth, plus the total days, weeks and hours you have lived and how long until your next birthday. Useful for forms, admissions and job applications that ask for age on a specific date.
  • Percentage Calculator: Four percentage calculators on one page: X% of Y, X is what percent of Y, percentage increase or decrease, and adding or removing a percentage. Ideal for marks, discounts, salary raises and price changes.
  • Discount Calculator: Work out the final price after a percentage discount and exactly how much you save. Handles extra discounts like "flat 50% + 20% off" and adds sales tax if needed.

Frequently asked questions

How is EMI calculated?

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the financed amount, r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months.

How much down payment is needed for car financing in Pakistan?

Banks usually require at least 30% of the car price, and some ask for more on expensive or imported cars. Check your bank's current policy.

Does a bigger down payment reduce EMI?

Yes. It lowers the financed amount, which reduces both the monthly installment and the total markup.

Can I calculate bike or mobile installments?

Yes. Enter the price, the advance payment percentage, the markup rate and the number of months.

Is the EMI the same for Islamic car financing?

The monthly rental or installment is worked out with the same formula, so the result is a close estimate. Your bank's schedule is final.

What is the difference between EMI and interest?

EMI is the full monthly payment. Part of it is interest (or markup) and the rest repays the principal.

Is the EMI Calculator free to use?

Yes. The EMI Calculator on Custom Converter is completely free, with no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark.

Does the EMI Calculator work on mobile phones?

Yes. It is built mobile-first and works on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers in any modern browser, with no app to install.
