What is the Discount Calculator?
The discount calculator shows the sale price and the amount you save when a shop offers a percentage off. Enter the original price and the discount and you instantly see what you will pay.
Sales in Pakistan and abroad often advertise stacked offers such as "50% + extra 20% off". These do not add up to 70%; the second discount is taken from the already reduced price. The calculator applies them in the right order and shows the real, effective discount.
How to use the Discount Calculator
- Enter the original price of the item.
- Enter the discount percentage.
- Optionally add an extra discount and a sales tax rate.
- Read the final price, the amount saved and the effective discount.
Formula
Final price = Price × (1 − d₁/100) × (1 − d₂/100) × (1 + tax/100)
Example
A Rs 8,000 jacket with 40% off costs Rs 4,800, so you save Rs 3,200. With an extra 10% off at checkout the price becomes Rs 4,320, an effective discount of 46%, not 50%.
Quick discount table for Rs 1,000
| Discount | You pay | You save |
|---|---|---|
| 10% | Rs 900 | Rs 100 |
| 20% | Rs 800 | Rs 200 |
| 25% | Rs 750 | Rs 250 |
| 30% | Rs 700 | Rs 300 |
| 40% | Rs 600 | Rs 400 |
| 50% | Rs 500 | Rs 500 |
| 70% | Rs 300 | Rs 700 |
Tips for comparing sale offers
- Compare the final price, not the percentage. 30% off a high original price can cost more than 20% off elsewhere.
- Check whether tax is added after the discount.
- For "buy 2 get 1 free", the discount per item is 33.3%.
- Use the Percentage Calculator to check what percent of the price a coupon really saves.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it from the price. 25% off Rs 2,000 saves Rs 500, so you pay Rs 1,500.
Is 50% + 20% off the same as 70% off?
No. The 20% is taken from the already halved price, so the total discount is 60%, not 70%.
How do I find the original price before a discount?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). If you paid Rs 1,200 after 40% off, the original price was 1,200 ÷ 0.6 = Rs 2,000.
Is sales tax charged before or after the discount?
Usually after. The calculator applies the discount first and then adds tax to the reduced price.
How much is 30% off Rs 5,000?
You save Rs 1,500 and pay Rs 3,500.
Is the Discount Calculator free to use?
