How to Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit (and Back)

Celsius to Fahrenheit – free online tool guide

Pakistan’s weather reports use Celsius, but many thermometers, American recipes and some medical devices use Fahrenheit. When the forecast says 45 °C in Jacobabad or a recipe says bake at 350 °F, you need to convert. This guide explains how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit and back, with a chart and a quick mental trick. Our free Celsius to Fahrenheit converter does it instantly.

The formula

°F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32

°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9

Examples

  • 25 °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32 = 77 °F
  • 37 °C (normal body temperature) = 98.6 °F
  • 45 °C = 113 °F
  • 350 °F (oven) = (350 − 32) × 5 ÷ 9 = 176.7 °C, usually set as 180 °C

Mental trick

Double the Celsius and add 30. 25 °C: 50 + 30 = 80 °F (exact 77). It is close enough for weather.

To go back, subtract 30 and halve. 90 °F: 60 ÷ 2 = 30 °C (exact 32.2).

The point where they meet

At −40, Celsius and Fahrenheit are equal: −40 °C = −40 °F.

Fever readings

A body temperature of about 38 °C (100.4 °F) or above is commonly considered a fever. Readings depend on where and how the temperature is taken. For medical concerns, follow a doctor’s advice. Read fever temperatures in °C and °F for more.

Cooking

Oven settings in recipes often use Fahrenheit. Common settings: 325 °F ≈ 160 °C, 350 °F ≈ 180 °C, 400 °F ≈ 200 °C, 450 °F ≈ 230 °C. For cups, ounces and grams, our Unit Converter helps with other recipe units.

Weather and travel

If you are travelling to the US, temperatures will be in Fahrenheit. Remember: 70 °F is pleasant, 90 °F is hot, and 32 °F is freezing. Check local times there with the Time Zone Converter.
