What is the Life in Weeks?

A 90-year life has about 4,700 weeks. Seeing them as a grid of small boxes, with the ones you have already lived filled in, is a striking way to think about time. The life in weeks tool draws this grid from your birth date.

Choose the age to show (such as 80 or 90). For your exact age use the Age Calculator; to count days since your birth use Days Since Calculator.

How to use the Life in Weeks

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Choose the age to display.
  3. See weeks lived (filled) and weeks left (empty).

Formula

Weeks lived = days since birth ÷ 7

Example

A 30-year-old has lived about 1,565 weeks. Up to age 80 there are about 2,610 weeks left.

Why look at life in weeks?

Big numbers like "50 years" feel endless, but a few thousand boxes on one screen feel real. Many people use the grid to focus on what matters: time with family, health, learning a skill or finishing a project. Count down to a goal with Days Until Calculator.

Reading the grid

  • Each row is one year (52 boxes).
  • Filled boxes are weeks already lived.
  • The highlighted box is this week.
