What is the Online Timer?
The online timer counts down from any time you set and plays an alarm at zero. Quick presets give 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 or 60 minutes in one click, and the time also appears in the browser tab title so you can work in another tab.
Use the 25-minute preset for the Pomodoro technique and combine it with the Study Time Calculator. To time something upward instead, use the Online Stopwatch; to ring at a clock time, use the Online Alarm Clock.
How to use the Online Timer
- Enter hours, minutes and seconds, or click a preset.
- Press Start.
- Pause or reset at any time.
- When it reaches zero, the alarm sounds until you stop it.
Example
For a timed mock test of 45 minutes, set 0 h 45 m 0 s and press Start. The alarm rings when time is up.
Ideas for using a timer
- Pomodoro study: 25 minutes work, 5 minutes break
- Cooking: boiling eggs, rice and tea
- Workouts: planks and interval training
- Speeches and presentations
- Kids' screen time
Keep the alarm working
Browsers may slow down background tabs, but the timer uses your device clock so it stays accurate. Keep the volume on, and on phones keep the screen on, because some phones pause web pages when locked.
