What is the Packaging Quantity Calculator?
A big order needs a packing plan: how many boxes, how many pallets, and how much tape and labels? The packaging quantity calculator works it out from the order quantity, units per box and boxes per pallet, adding a spare percentage.
Find boxes per pallet first with the Pallet Loading Calculator, and the cost of it all with the Packaging Cost Calculator.
How to use the Packaging Quantity Calculator
- Enter the order quantity.
- Enter units per box and boxes per pallet.
- Enter tape per box and labels per box.
- Add a spare % and read the totals.
Formula
Boxes = ceil(units ÷ units per box) · Pallets = ceil(boxes ÷ boxes per pallet)
Example
An order of 5,000 units at 24 per box needs 209 boxes; at 40 boxes per pallet that is 6 pallets. With 2 labels per box and 5% spare, order 440 labels.
Why add spare stock?
Boxes get damaged, labels misprint and counts change. A 3–5% spare avoids stopping the packing line. For the final shipment, check container space with the Container Loading Calculator.
