What is the Box Net Generator?
A net is a flat shape that folds into a 3D solid. The box net generator draws the net of a cuboid (or cube) with glue tabs at the size you choose, ready to print, cut and fold, ideal for maths lessons, school projects, gift boxes and packaging mock-ups.
It also shows the surface area and volume. For a real shipping box template use the Box Dieline Generator; to calculate volume in other units, see the Box Volume Calculator.
How to use the Box Net Generator
- Enter length, width and height.
- Choose the tab size.
- Print at 100% scale or download SVG.
- Cut along solid lines, fold dashed lines and glue the tabs.
Formula
Surface area = 2(LW + LH + WH) · Volume = L × W × H
Example
A 6 × 4 × 3 cm cuboid has a surface area of 2(24 + 18 + 12) = 108 cm² and a volume of 72 cm³.
For teachers and students
Nets help students see how surface area is made of the six faces. Print several sizes and let students compare surface area and volume.
