What is the Electricity Bill Calculator?
Electricity bills in Pakistan are confusing: slabs, protected and non-protected customers, fuel price adjustment, GST, TV fee and other charges. The electricity bill calculator gives a quick estimate from the units on your meter.
Enter the units consumed and choose your company. The estimate follows the published residential tariffs; your actual bill may include adjustments. To budget for fuel as well, use the Petrol Cost Calculator.
How to use the Electricity Bill Calculator
- Choose your electricity company (DISCO).
- Enter units consumed this month.
- Tick protected if you used 200 units or less for the last 6 months.
- Read the estimated energy charge, taxes and total.
Formula
Bill ≈ units × slab rate + fixed charges + GST + other taxes
Example
Using 250 units as a non-protected customer puts you in a higher slab than 200 units, so the bill rises sharply. Keeping usage at or below 200 units for six months qualifies you as protected.
Tips to reduce your bill
- Set the AC at 26 °C and use a DC inverter AC.
- Replace old bulbs with LEDs.
- Run heavy appliances in off-peak hours if you have a time-of-use meter.
- Check for meter faults if a bill jumps without reason.
- Consider net-metered solar panels.
