Remote work and freelancing mean many Pakistanis work with clients and colleagues in the Gulf, Europe and North America. A meeting at “3 pm” means nothing unless everyone knows whose 3 pm. This guide gives practical tips to schedule meetings across time zones without missed calls, using our Time Zone Converter.
1. Find the overlap
List each person’s working hours in their own time, then convert them to one zone. The overlap is your meeting window.
| Team | Working hours (local) | In PKT |
|---|---|---|
| Karachi | 9 am–6 pm | 9 am–6 pm |
| London (summer) | 9 am–5:30 pm | 1 pm–9:30 pm |
| New York (summer) | 9 am–5 pm | 6 pm–2 am |
Karachi’s day ends exactly when New York’s begins, so there is no overlap for all three within normal hours and someone must stretch. Rotate who takes the late or early slot.
2. Always write the time zone
Write “Tuesday 4:00 pm PKT / 12:00 pm BST”, not just “4 pm”. Better still, send a calendar invite, which converts automatically for each person.
3. Watch daylight saving dates
Europe and North America change clocks on different dates. For a few weeks in March and in October–November, usual gaps shift by an hour. Double-check recurring meetings around those dates.
4. Use UTC for technical teams
Developers and operations teams often use UTC to avoid confusion. PKT is UTC+5.
5. Mind weekends and holidays
Weekends differ in some countries, and public holidays vary. Check Pakistan Public Holidays for local dates and your clients’ holiday calendars.
6. Confirm the day too
Late-night meetings in Pakistan may be “yesterday” in the US. Write the date in both zones when it changes.
7. Set a reminder
An alarm a few minutes before helps; the Online Alarm Clock can ring in your browser at your local time.
8. Keep a world clock
Add the key cities to your phone’s clock app. For one-off conversions, the time zone converter is quickest. For basic differences from Pakistan, read Pakistan time vs the UK, USA and UAE.
