What is the Pallet Wrap Calculator?
When pallets are wrapped by hand, the film stretches far less than in a machine, so more is used. The pallet wrap calculator estimates the metres of hand wrap per pallet and the rolls for your shipment, using the pallet perimeter, load height, film width, overlap and extra wraps at the base.
For machine film use the Stretch Film Calculator; to know how many pallets you will ship, use the Pallet Capacity Calculator. All calculators accept centimetres, inches or millimetres and kilograms or pounds, so you can use the units on your supplier's spec sheet.
How to use the Pallet Wrap Calculator
- Enter the pallet size and load height.
- Enter the film width and overlap.
- Enter extra wraps at the bottom and top.
- Read metres per pallet and rolls needed.
Formula
Wraps = load height ÷ (film width × (1 − overlap)) + extra wraps · Film = wraps × perimeter
Example
A 120 × 100 cm pallet, 150 cm high, wrapped with 50 cm film at 50% overlap and 3 extra wraps uses about 40 m of hand wrap.
Good wrapping practice
- Wrap the pallet base 2–3 times to lock the load to the pallet.
- Keep 30–50% overlap between layers.
- Wrap over the top edge to hold the top layer.
- Do not over-tighten fragile cartons.

Packaging decisions are connected: the box size sets the volumetric weight, which sets the courier bill, and the carton size decides how many fit on a pallet or in a container. These related calculators help with the next step:
